The luminaires depicted have been installed in vestibule and saloon areas in underground train carriages used by London Underground. The all aluminium assembly allows a robust construction withstanding shock and vibration associated with transport conditions. The glass where used is a laminated construction with an opal interface. Lampholders have crimped terminations for long term reliability. The aluminium extrusions form the main body of the luminaire with formed aluminium end caps held in place by self tapping screws. The glazed bodies are gasketed against the frame containing the glass.
The glass is held within the extruded frame with a silicone gasket to protect against dust. The hinged diffusers are supported in the open position by a patented hinge arrangement. The luminaires are finished in a specialist vandal resistant paint.
